The career progression for Marine Engineering in India follows a structured path:

  • Completion of the 4-year course along with STCW training.
  • Exemption from MEO Class (IV) Part A-Examination, followed by 6 months of sea service as Junior/Trainee Engineer with a stipend ranging from $450 to $850.
  • Completion of 3 advanced Safety Training Courses (AFF, PSCRB & MFA), a 3-month preparatory course including simulator training, obtaining MEO Class (IV) Exam part (B), and sailing as a 4th Engineer for 12 months with a salary ranging from $3500 to $5500.

  • A 4-month preparatory course, including simulator training, obtaining MEO Class II (Part A & B) Certificate of Competency, and sailing as a 3rd Engineer for 18 months with a salary ranging from $5500 to $7500.

  • A 2-month preparatory course, including simulator training, obtaining MEO Class I Certificate of Competency, joining a ship as 2nd Engineer, and later progressing to Chief Engineer with a salary between $7500 and $12,000.

Marine Engineering Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Marine Engineering course in India, candidates must fulfill specific criteria:

  • Completion of minimum 10+2 PCM or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as separate subjects, maintaining a PCM average of not less than 60%.
  • Medical and physical fitness.
